Walking in the light

Dedicated to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, eternal security, and grace through faith alone. I will forever expose false prophets and heretics on my blog. God bless you all.

What does it mean to be justified by faith? (Doctrine of Justification)

Galatians 2:16-17 King James Version

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

The Bible tells us in Galatians 2:16 that we are not justified by the works of the law. The word “justified” in this verse means “having been shown to be just or right.” This same word comes from the word “just” which means “to be blameless; innocent; guiltless.” Many people seek to be justified by the law, but they never will because the word of God says that we’re not saved by the law.

Romans 3:20 KJV

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

The Bible is clear when it says no man goes to heaven by keeping the commandments and it is impossible to obey all of God’s law because we’re all sinners.

Romans 3:23 KJV

for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Ecclesiastes 7:20 KJV

For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

God did not give the law to us so that we could be justified through it, but he gave it to show that we’re all guilty of sin.

Romans 3:19 KJV

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Whenever we go soul winning and witness to lost people, we like to explain to why God wrote the law. The scripture tells us that the law shows we’re all sinners, guilty, and deserving of hell. God is going to judge every man one day in the second coming of Christ and they will have no excuse. If we’re going to escape the White Throne Judgment, then we need somebody to make restitution for us. That’s when Jesus came to die for us.

Genesis 3:15

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

King James Version (KJV)

God promised us our coming King since Genesis 3:15! he said that the seed of the woman (Jesus) would come and bruise the head of the serpent (Satan). The devil led Adam and Eve into sin, which brought forth sin and death into the world, but Christ brought the cure for us. He died, suffered, bled, and rose again for us.

Romans 5:8

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

King James Version (KJV)

Christ had to die in our place, and it was expedient. God had to make an atonement for our sin. Jesus offered Himself for it, and thus bringing salvation to all of humanity. Not only did He have to die, but He also had to be raised from the dead. Jesus rose again for our justification.

Friend, do you see now that the law doesn’t save us? Do you believe Jesus died and rose again for us to be saved? Since we have that covered now, let’s talk about what justification is. The Bible tells says we’re justified by faith alone in Christ.

Romans 5:1

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”

King James Version (KJV)

The word of God tells us that when we believe in Jesus by faith, we are justified, or declared righteous, before God. My works don’t justify me and we saw that earlier in this post. What does it mean to be justified by faith in Jesus Christ? The Bible defines it for us.

2 Corinthians 5:21

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

King James Version (KJV)

Jesus became sin for us, meaning when He was on that cross, He died in our place. It was as if He were the guilty one, but he wasn’t. The Bible says he tasted death for every man and He took our burden of sin upon Himself. The reason He did that was so that you and I could become the righteousness of God in Him. When we get saved, He becomes our righteousness.

Jeremiah 33:16

“In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.”

King James Version (KJV)

Jesus is the righteous one; He never sinned and kept all the commandments from day one. We are filthy rotten sinners, guilty of the worst transgressions ever, and aren’t worthy of salvation. But His righteousness gives life to all those who believe.

Revelation 1:5

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”

King James Version (KJV)

The blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed us; God has forgiven us, past, present, and future. God will never condemn us again because Jesus has made us whole. His blood makes us righteous, and it is because His blood is innocent.

Matthew 27:4

“Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.”

King James Version (KJV)

Jesus’s blood was innocent and righteous. When Judas led Jesus to be crucified, he realized he committed a greater sin. It was because He delivered a perfect man over to the Romans and they crucified Him. Jesus never deserved that, but He offered Himself voluntarily to save humanity. We are born into a sinful world, and sin has corrupted our bodies. Jesus didn’t have that problem because He was God in flesh and God’s ways are not the same as our way.

And because Jesus’ blood is innocent, we become innocent before the Lord. We are white as snow now and our record of sin is clear. The Bible says we now have the forgiven of sins through His blood.

Colossians 1:14 KJV
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Jesus forgives us of every sin through His precious blood. When He does that, sin is no longer imputed against us.

Romans 4:6-8 KJV
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, [7] Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. [8] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

To impute means to charge with. God will no longer condemn us of our sins because the blood of Jesus has saved us. Our great Saviour took the burden of sin off from us and placed it on Himself so that we wouldn’t have to go to hell. Thank God for that!

Friend, the point is the righteousness of Christ saves us and He is the one who presents us spotlessly before God. When Jesus comes back and raptures us, we will all stand before God and He will not to see our own righteousness. Thank God! He will see the righteousness of our beloved Lord, Jesus Christ. Our good deeds can’t make us innocent, but His gospel does. I am happy to say in the second advent of Jesus Christ, He will pass over me when He sees the blood.

Exodus 12:13 KJV
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are : and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

The Passover lamb and the blood atonement was a picture of Christ and what He was going to do. The Jews had to slay the Passover lamb and then sprinkle its blood on the lintel and side posts of the door. There was a reason for it. It was so that the death angel would pass over them when God came to smite the Egyptians for their sins. God came and saw the blood on each door of every house that belonged to the Hebrews and He passed over them. That blood was a way for them to show God that they were His.

When God sees the righteousness of Christ in us, He will say, “They’re mine. I will pass over them.” There will be no second death for the Christian who is born again and is a child of God. Jesus Christ has canceled the White Throne Judgment for us, and the kingdom of God belongs to us. Thank God, hallelujah! We are justified by faith alone! God bless you all in Jesus’ name.
